Game 1 at Detroit
Game 2 at Connecticut Game 3 (if needed) at Connecticut The two best teams in the league IMO will go at it this should be fun. All the series talk should go in this thread and if you're not a big wnba fan watch this series and trust me you'll change your mind. Game 1 is I believe thursday not 100% sure. I got Detroit in 2 especially if Katie Douglas is bothered by that leg injury. The keys to this series for the Shock are Ruth Riley and Swin Cash along with roll players Kedra Holland-Corn and Kara Braxton. I know Deanna "Tweety" Nolan, Katie Smith, Cheryl Ford and Plenette Pierson will bring it we just need those girls to help out. This is like Detroit Pistons vs Miami Heat the fans, players, coaches do not like eachother so it should be a great matchup. I look for them to have the coaches mic'd up I think its always fun listening to Bill during the games the dude is hilarious. I feel that its the Shock year but we'll see how bad they want it comes game 3, there cant be no more stupid plays, lazyness, and being unfocused Connecticut will bring their A game and we have to bring ours. If you can get out to the palace thursday please do these games are really really fun and are cheap so get your daughter/son/nephew/niece or someone and hop in the car and get down to palace.

UNCASVILLE, CT. (August 21, 2006) ? Connecticut Sun guard Katie Douglas is doubtful for the rest of the 2006 WNBA Playoffs after being diagnosed with a non-displaced hairline fracture in her right foot following a CT Scan and MRI on Monday at Backus Hospital in Norwich.
Her condition will monitored throughout playoffs. Douglas suffered the injury during the final minute of Sunday?s victory over the Washington Mystics in Game 2 of the WNBA Eastern Conference Semifinals at Mohegan Sun Arena. She will not play Thursday in Detroit, where the Sun meet the Shock in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals. ?It?s obviously a big loss for our team,? coach Mike Thibault said Monday. ?KT has been an integral part of our success. However, we have weathered prominent injuries before, and we intend to do so again.? The injury occurred after Douglas stole the ball from Washington?s Alana Beard in the closing moments of a 68-65 win that clinched a 2-0 sweep of the Mystics. As Douglas was going in for the layup, Beard knocked the ball away and Douglas stepped awkwardly. A regular-season MVP candidate who led the Sun in scoring this season with a franchise-record average of 16.4 points per game, Douglas averaged 16.5 points during the two games playoff games with Washington. |

Thats good new for the shock but I never want to see anyone hurt especially Douglas with the type of season she has been having. Detroit needs to take advantage of it though and still not let up CT is still a dangerous team.

AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Aug. 24 (Ticker) -- The Detroit Shock were too big, too strong and too good for the Connecticut Sun. Deanna Nolan scored 21 points and Cheryl Ford added 11 and a WNBA playoff-record 23 rebounds as the Shock beat the Sun, 70-59, to take Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals. The Shock set a WNBA playoff record with 48 rebounds, including 16 by Ford in the first half, to move within one win of a trip to the Finals. Detroit could become the first team not seeded No. 1 in either conference to advance to the Finals since fourth-seeded Charlotte in 2001. "That's what we discussed the last three days. We had to get more second shots," Ford said. "I feel like some of those just fell into my hands. I was just in the right place at the right time. I couldn't believe it when they said I had 16 at the half." Detroit took hold of the game early in the fourth quarter, when it went on a 20-2 run run to open a 63-51 lead. Katie Smith hit two 3-pointers and Nolan added five points in the decisive burst. The Sun did not get closer than 11 thereafter. Nolan had seven assists and Smith scored 17 points on 7-of-12 shooting and added five assists for the Shock, who are 4-0 against the Sun this season. Lindsay Whalen and Erin Phillips each scored 13 for Connecticut, which shot 30.1 percent (22-of-73) from the field and scored just seven points in the second quarter and 10 in the fourth. "Our defense was outstanding. We had good focus and rotation. We challenged shots. We got through their pick and rolls," Detroit coach Bill Laimbeer said. "That won the game for us - that and Cheryl Ford. That was a Herculean effort on her part to get all of those rebounds." The defending Eastern Conference champions, the Sun were playing without the services of All-Star guard Katie Douglas, who learned on Monday that she had a non-displaced hairline fracture of the foot. She is doubtful for the remainder of the playoffs. "She didn't even come out to try to play in this game," Sun coach Mike Thibault said. "It's not an injury that she can make worse by playing, but she's not ready to play. If we get lucky and she can play in one of the weekend games, that's great." A 15-0 run with two minutes remaining in the first quarter gave Connecticut an early 23-9 lead, but Ford sparked a 12-2 run with seven points as Detroit closed the quarter down 25-21. Detroit dominated the second stanza, holding Connecticut to just three field goals on 17 attempts. The Shock collected 16 rebounds, 11 by Ford, to take a 36-32 halftime lead. Ford, Nolan, and Smith, each had nine points at the half. Lindsay Whalen's five points and two assists in the third, sparked Connecticut to a six-point lead with just over a minute remaining, but a Nolan jumper and Smith's three pointer got the Shock to within 49-48 at the end of three. |

No it wont we still have Sacramento to get past. They're healthy and playing very well and its always tough getting wins down there in Arco. Remember sacramento is the defending champs also so dont count them out just yet. Los Angeles have been playing well too so if they were able to somehow get past sacramento I wouldn't count them out either plus if LA advances they would have HCA over the shock.

I agree. I saw highlights of L.A. and Sac on nba tv and they were going at it. It seemed like what stopped L.A. from winning that game was home court advantage. Both teams were shooting the lights out though. So if we play Sac I would think that it would probably be inside game vs. out. BTW Ford had a great game last night. 26 REBOUNDS!!!
