The Oregonian - On May 31, when the Trail Blazers announced they would not renew the contract of general manager John Nash, team president Steve Patterson named himself interim general manager. At a news conference, Patterson discussed the process of finding a permanent successor for Nash.
"I think we owe it to the franchise to have a sincere search," he said. Patterson said at the time that it would not be realistic to hire a new general manager before the NBA draft, which was held June 28. The draft passed, then summer league, then the rest of the off-season. Now, more than four months later, Patterson remains the interim general manager. Patterson has refused to answer specific questions about the position. Asked about the opening this week, Patterson said, "We're still in the same place as we were a few weeks ago." |
