Default Shaq-Kobe--It's On

The NBA Playoffs did not need any more fuel, but Shaquille O’Neal to the Phoenix Suns, combined with Pau Gasol to the Los Angeles Lakers, sets up a battle royale this Spring. Let’s just say, with the Phoenix Suns and Los Angeles Lakers….it’s on.

Shaquille O’Neal won a title with Pat Riley and the Miami Heat. Now, as the Miami Heat rebuild, Shaquille O’Neal has been drawn back not just West, but back into the same division no less as the Los Angeles Lakers. Shaquille O’Neal is a student of the game, and he loves nothing more than joining division ranks with his old pals, Kobe Bryant and Phil Jackson.

Shaquille O’Neal has a lot of help with him on the Phoenix Suns, and this Spring sets up for a simply epic matchup come NBA Playoff time between these two teams, and all these personalities. Pray that the matchup Gods put them in the same bracket before perhaps a San Antonio gets their hands on either of them, but maybe this year the San Antonio Spurs should be the ones hoping to stay out of the Phoenix Suns’ and Los Angeles Lakers’ way.

So Phil Jackson gives his smug smirk, waiting, probably wanting the challenge of his old protégé, Shaquille O’Neal. You know Kobe Bryant is rabid, wanting to stop what could be Shaq’s 5th NBA Ring. Between Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O’Neal, the only score that matters is 4, which is the number of Championships Shaquille O’Neal has, and 3, which is the amount for Kobe Bryant.

The difference is that Shaq’s 4th was won without Kobe, while Kobe has been languishing in mediocrity until now, post-Shaq. They may very well be standing in each other’s way on the road to the Finals. Old scores to be settled, new allies to help settle them.
