Ok I go to get my bookbag get out my physical science work and bring it to my computer look at it and just decided i'm not doing it. We are studying rocks and w/e I guess idk I don't pay much attention to it but yeah we're studying rocks and supposed to do this huge lab thing telling about the lab we did on rocks and w/e. When my mom get home she's gonna ask did I do my hw and i'm gonna straight up tell her I didnt do my Physical Science work because its pointless and I don't see no reason for it. High school is supposed to be preparing you for the future right? Have any of you guys ever walked outside and saw a rock and said hmm I wonder what type of rock this is I should of paid attention in science class when I was younger? When I see rocks the last thing I think is hmm what kind of rock is this I just wanna know how heavy it is so when I hit someone with it how hard its gonna hurt. The point of this thread is i'm tired of us makin us learn worthless shit in high school that we're never gonna use in the real world. Why learn something that in a month your not gonna remember it anyways and will have no use for it in the future. I could see if someone wanted to learn about this stuff and w/e then they should take it but why should us people who have no interest in that bullshit have to sit through this? And its not just with science but its with history too, I mean ok in grade and middle school yeah teach us about history but in High School prepare us for the future give us classes that will actually help us and knowing who killed who 100 years ago ain't gonna help me now.
Classes I do support Today economics and stuff like that, math, english classes, foreign languages, and stuff like that. Haha its kinda funny how i'm pullin a B+ in advanced english but my grammar and spelling sucks so much on here. They should require cooking classes, child care classes, where to run when you get pulled over by police classes, and diffrent kind of stuff like that that we will actually use in the future.

Dude, there is countless stuff that is unnecessary to study in school. Most of the sciences are necessary to understand basic stuff. But there's a lot of stuff in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics which is just meant to make ppl's lives miserable. Like, for me, I have Geometry and I'm not doing too well with it. I mean what the hell am I going to use Geo for. Same thing goes for most of Algebra/Algebra 2-Trig. Damn!! But anyway, I totally understand your view.

We need scientists, we need historians, we need environmentalists, we need people that understand math to be engineers. Sure lots of stuff in school you think is worthless and some of it is, but in order to pump people out into the world and make them successfull we need science/math...etc..People around the world would die for a American or European education and we take it for granted.

I dont think child care classes should be required, because not everybody will have a kid. I dont think it should require cooking classes because guys are never cooking.....unless they are European... |

In my school we dissected cats which is good because now if I ever decide to stab a cat with a scalpel, I know where to find the large intenstine.

What if your job requires you to go to another country? Then what are you going to do if you don't know what anyone is saying? (ie: when guys play overseas)

Sorry, kids. These "pointless" assignments are meant to imbue you with mental skills. If you find the rocks unimportant, DTP, what about the ability to absorb the information and the excercise in discernment, for instance, which will strengthen those abilities in your other classes and in life? Plus, it can't hurt understanding the world around you; don't you want to know what you're living on?
