Kerry Kittles With Nets On A Voluntary Basis

North Jersey - Ex-Net Kerry Kittles has joined the Nets -- on a voluntary basis for the time being -- in an undefined role, according to columnist Al Iannazzone from North Jersey.

Kittles says he would be a good consultant and could give pointers to the younger Nets to increase their basketball IQs. But two days into his new "job," Kittles finds it strange not playing.

"It's definitely odd," he said after Monday's practice. "Jason was teasing me early in drills that I'd much rather be shooting than passing or setting picks. I definitely miss it. No question."

For now, this is the closest Kittles will come to playing basketball. A lower-back condition essentially has ended his career at 32.

Kittles won't say he's done yet. He's keeping open the possibility for a return, but said there's only a 3 percent chance of that.

"Realistically I don't think it will ever happen, but you never know," Kittles said. "That fire is still burning and I wouldn't say it's completely out, but I'll say there's pretty much no chance.

"It's a transition that I'm going through and this will help me either decide whether I have a chance, a slim chance of coming back, or it will let me know, 'You have no chance.' So it's good for me to be here."

I remember Kerry Kittles. Had a few bad injuries towards the end of his career. One season I waited for weeks just to get him back on my fantasy bball team, only for him to not play well...
