--The Nets still have their mid-level ($5.2 million) and bi-annual ($1.76 million) exceptions and figure to spend some of it. They'll sign Mile Ilic for about $800,000 of the mid-level. And they still had money for a veteran guard. They used it on Eddie House, formerly of Phoenix, who signed a one-year deal for $1.5 million.

--The Nets worked out Kareem Rush, who was less than spectacular. But there was a reason -- he was ill and even got sick twice in the session. Nets, though, said the workout isn't going to sway them one way or the other. They know Rush's history and will weight that.

--The Nets will make 11 appearances on national TV this season. The nation will see them on TNT (five times), ESPN (five) and ABC (one). Last season, they had four national games, none on TNT. The Nets, Atlantic Division champs four of the last five years, including last season, open the 2006-07 season on Wednesday, Nov. 1 at home versus the Toronto Raptors and No. 1 overall pick Andrea Bargnani.
