Spurs Add Another Veteran Guard

The San Antonio Spurs added another veteran to the roster when acquiring Guard Tyronn Lue from the Atlanta Hawks in exchange for Guard Wesley Person and Forwards Axel Hervelle and Ersan Ilyasova. Tyronn Lue is a 8 year veteran with a championship ring and a lot of experience. He's known for his hustle and defense but can also put the ball into the whole when needed, his career average is 9ppg and 3.5 apg.


"I'm excited to be on a team that can contend for a title, in Atlanta we wasn't really a championship type team so I'm very grateful for this opportunity. I'm excited about the chance to play with guys like Artest, Shaq, Duncan, and Parker and hopefully I can come in and fill my role and help this team to a championship" Lue said Sunday night. Lue is expected to backup starting G Tony Parker atleast until Damon Jones return to the lineup. Spurs also agreed to terms with F Melvin Ely who was cut by Atlanta.

Nice article, wonder what kind of production he will have coming off the bench on a different kind of team which it's main scoring comes from the frontcount opposed to being in Atlanta where it came from the backcourt.

Well in my system I like to get my guards in it. I know Shaq and Duncan are going to get theirs so I even set my focus to outside shooting, thats why we win when we shoot good from the field. We need guards who can shoot the ball and play defense and Lue fits in great IMO. He's also a guard that doesn't need to have the ball in his hand or have the ball go in the basket for him to have a good game.
