My name is Dez

25 years old

Grew up on the west side of Detroit and have now moved on up to the east side (burbs) of Royal Oak

I am one of the few straight men that does musical theatre.... im addicted. I love music and love to sing.

I was just recently in the paper for a show that im currently doing and I hope that with a little more experience I can move to NY to try my hand on Broadway.

I have been in love with the Pistons since 88 and can still remember the game that I got hooked. My father had also taped every game of the 89-90 finals (both series) and I would watch them over and over.

I am on here because I read almost every post on Pistons.com (though I dont often respond) and I trust the intelligence of Combs and want to help him make this work!

How long have you been doing musical theatre and how did you get into it/what made you decide to do it? I love to sing, but really only do it in church or at home.

Well I have been doing it for only a full year nonstop. In that year I have done 3 shows and 2 cabaret performances. I wanted to get into it but there was no outlet where I grew up. So when I moved out here I looked through a Metro Times and found a few theatres and emailed them to see if I could audition. I got a response from 2 of em and auditioned for "Seussical" with StageCrafters (voted Michigans best community theatre for 6 straight years now) I got a role in that and the production was so amazing that I have been doing things with them since then. I love it! We are currently doing "Ragtime" and have gotten nothing but incredible reviews. I didnt sing in front of anybody besides karaoke before this and now I get a rush from performing in front of almost 400 people every weekend!

Wow.I was in a group well more a choir a few years ago, but the most I've ever sang/performed in front of was maybe 50-75 people. I doubt I could ever sing in front of a big crowd, which is why I never auditioned for talent shows etc. Plus I tend to doubt myself. I admire people who can go out and perform in front of large crowds though.

You never know that you can until you actually do it! I never thought that I would be able to either and honestly you dont really get to see all of them with the lights blaring in your face. But when the lights are off of you and you look out there you just think WHOA! You should never doubt yourself, you can do anything you set your mind to

I guess you're right. I also think it's more of seeing people who I believe I'm better than me up there doing it and being intimidated more than anything. I think I may be too critcal of myself when it comes to singing etc. Maybe I'll see if anyone is offering any type of acting/fine arts class or something of that nature around here just to get into it. I've always enjoyed watching it, so it wouldn't hurt. Who knows maybe I'll love it so much that I decide to do a career change. Then of course I'll have to add you to my "Thank You" list

I think I should... I can just imagine it. I'd have 20 people in my crew yelling "hi mom" all in the camera, dancing across the stage. It'd be awesome. It would be too funny!

Ha! As long as you don't get a lawsuit or anything... I can't have anyone in my crew being arrested or with any big lawsuits. It might make me look bad. I need to start recruiting people now. I'm not sure if I can allow anyone in my family to be in my crew though...

Some family members are usually allowed.... mostly the unemployed ones that have nothing better to do. Usually an aunt or grandmother makes you give them a job in your crew ala M.C. Hammer

I'm trying to think who I can add that won't get to rowdy... My family members act a fool when they get together. Then again it might be fun if I have some of my family along with some people from this board like Dtop, Combs, Ed, Yugi and AP and a few others. I don't think America is quite ready for that though...
