Indianapolis Star - Indiana Pacers president Larry Bird doesn't put last season's shortcomings on coach Rick Carlisle, whom he rewarded with a multiyear extension and front-office title Thursday.
Bird said injuries and Ron Artest's trade demand played a significant part in the team's 41-41 finish and first-round playoff elimination. And he's confident Carlisle will turn it around. "Last year, there was a lot of things going on," Bird said. "I think he deserves a fair chance. Hopefully, this year we'll stay away from the injuries and we'll see what we can do." |
