Shaq To Marbury: Let Your Play Talk

Newsday - Shaquille O'Neal said Stephon Marbury should let his play speak for itself and speculated that the Knicks' point guard would have been better off playing another season for Larry Brown.

"If you say you're the best point guard in the world, now you have to come out and show that every night," O'Neal said on SportsNet New York. "The only time when I really say that is when I have a real big game. You never really heard me say I'm the best center to ever play the game. When you say that, you have to come out and show that every night, especially here in New York."

When asked before a game against the Nets during the 2004-05 season how he would match up with Jason Kidd, Marbury replied, "I'm the best point guard in the NBA."

Stephon Marbury has a lot of talent, but he needs to put them into better use. Obvious he's one of the top ankle breakers in the NBA since he has that streetball gameplay, he can drive to the hoop at will, & he's not as big of a ballhog as everyone makes him out to be because he averages 8 apg for his whole career, but he needs to chill with the ego & huge cockiness. He's a good PG, but he's not even close to being the best. Guys like Baron Davis, Mike Bibby, Chauncey Billups, Gilbert Arenas, Steve Nash, Jason Kidd, & Tony Parker are all better than him. He'll only be in the elite if he can set up guys like Steve Francis, Jalen Rose, Quentin Richardson, Jamal Crawford, Nate Robinson, Channing Frye, & Eddy Curry for good looks around the basket.
