We are 50% in the Win/Loss catergory. Is this just because its the beginning of the season, or did losing Ben really hurt us this bad?

I think it's still early to be worrying but losing Ben hurt us bad on defense IMO, but it helped us GREATLY in offense as well. So the question is, is it more important to have a better offense or that great defense?

losing ben was huge.......

not only on the defense.... ben might not be able to score but he can grab a ton of offensive boards.... he grabbed 10 tonight for da bulls...... thats 10 extra shots

its early still tho.... and yall started with 5 of 7 on the road

Yea having those rode games early really doesn't help, then it's not any better when you have such a huge time difference.

Also yes ben can grab offensive boards, but who's to say all the offensive rebounds manifested into something good. We know ben wanted the ball more so unless he HAD to pass it off of those boards he probably went back up a lot of times or got fouled. (turnover) I'm not saying that offensive rebounding isn't important because it is but I just don't think we should pay a guy even 48 million (what we offered him) if the best thing he can do on offense is rebound. Basically, all ben wallace's game was rebounding. His blocks continued to go down every year, ALONG WITH REBOUNDING. IMO ben was just hurting us on the offfensive end. You can see the differene on both sides of the ball though. I watch now and the offense doesn't hesitate like they did with ben on the floor IMO. I mean some of the passes I saw Chauncey make to Nazr would've thought twice about making to Ben. I just think the most important factor in losing ben is inside defense, which if flip is a good enough coach can fix that.

I think Wallace could be an offensive force if a coach designed some more offense for him.

^^No. He needs easy dunks and he can't get them himself. A team like Phoenix or any team that rarely plays in the halfcourt would be perfect for him. Ben is an athlete, he can get up the court quickly and get easy dunks in transition but doesn't have the skills to get the shots himself.

As for why are we playing so bad. Well, for one, no energy. The one game we won on the west coast trip was the one where we got off to a good start. All the other games, we fell down early. If we play with more energy, then we win. That's actually the area we miss Ben the most.

Without the energy, hustle, and character of Wallace, the Pistons are eerily close to being one dimensional. EVERYTHING now depends on Chauncey's shooting. If he's shooting well, the overall tempo is slower and more condusive to Pistons basketball. Tayshaun and Dice get less defensive attention because when Chauncey's on, you gotta extend the defense. Chauncey even gets more assists when he's shooting well. They look like worldbeaters when Chauncey can hit 45 percent of his shots, they look below average when he's not.

The whole Piston season is going to live and die with Chauncey's shooting percentage.

In attributes NO, but for some reason I think they loss their confidence because there is no reason why we are only .500

That defense for show even look at Kobe's interview his whole story is that it's a way diffrent game when u have Ben in the middle drawing charges, and slapping everything right back at them!!!!
