They have a new kid Yakhouba Diawara, J.R. Smith, Dermarr Johnson, and Linas Kleiza all trying to get the starting job so who do you think will get it? I think they are very high on this Diawara kid so if Smith doesn't really step it up during preseason Diawara could very well be the starter opening night. I think the job is JR Smith's to lose pretty much. If I was George Karl I would start Earl and Andre and bring JR off the bench but I don't know if Anthony Carter can still come off that bench and make a produce if they start Earl and Andre.

J.R. Smith without a doubt. That's the easiest question I've ever answered. He may be a liability on the defensive end, but he can stroke the three-ball, he has a decent mid-range J, & he's an aggressive finisher on the inside. Also, he's an extremely freakish athlete who's young & his versatility will open up a lot of things for Carmelo Anthony, Marcus Camby, & many more. I see Linas Kleiza playing backup for Melo at SF than a SG.

I thought Najera would back up Melo for the most part.

On Season Preview Nuggetts...
SG - J.R. Smith He got the starting spot he wanted, and now he has to prove he deserves it. Smith is a freakish athlete who can control his body in the air like few others. His shot is pretty shaky, but when he's hot he's a guy you can ride to a victory or two during the regular season. The challenge for Smith this year is going to be adjusting his game to make the best use of Anthony. He cannot be clashing with Carmelo when it comes to playing styles. He has got to focus on playing a style of game that allows for Carmelo to be at his most efficient. That means making open shots to keep his defenses honest, driving to suck in defenses, and most importantly passing. Smith has never been known as a willing passer and he is going to have to pick up that trait fast if he doesn't want to become just another blip in Denver's ever-changing rotation of starting shooting guards. And I'll say that Dermarr will play few games in the starting, I think |
