Avery Signs Restructured Contract

Dallas Morning News - Avery Johnson has agreed to a restructured contract as head coach of the Mavericks that will pay him at least $20 million over the next five years, team officials said Thursday.

Johnson's original coaching contract paid him $2.5 million last season and ran through 2008-09.

Johnson is now under contract until 2010-11.

"Mark decided that he wanted to change my payroll structure," Johnson said. "We talked about it and found something that is a win-win situation for everybody."
