Mavs to begin training Oct. 2

The Mavericks are about to get back to work.

The club announced Thursday that it will open training camp Oct. 2 with its annual media day. Interviews for the tip-off session will take place at American Airlines Center.

The players won't be there long. Club officials are finalizing plans to conduct the first four days of camp on the University of North Texas campus in Denton. The team will return to its practice facility at AAC to complete camp.

The Mavericks' first preseason game is Oct. 10 in Oklahoma City against the Hornets. The regular season begins at home Nov. 2 against San Antonio.
