Boston Herald - The Celtics and Paul Pierce have agreed on a three-year contract extension that will take him through the end of the 2010-2011 season.

Despite being a constant subject of trade rumors through the regular season, Pierce was always vocal about wanting to stay with the Celtics.

"Paul's been one of the great Celtics of all time in my opinion -- one of the top players to ever put on a Celtic uniform," said director of basketball operations Danny Ainge. "He's going into the prime of his career, and he's still getting better. He got better last year from the year before. [/b]

Good work to get a contract done. He's got at least that long of productive years left Then they have options after that. I like how they didn't give a deal longer then that for the good of the team, but made him happy moneywise.

good observation Combs didnt think about that. I think he will have more than 3 productive seasons though...time will tell. It sounds like if in the next few years were contending in the East he will stay and retire with us. Unless of course we trade him (which would show no loyalty on the C's part). I would love to see #34 in the rafters with the rest of the great Celtics #'s and I hope he gets a few rings too! He def. deserves them.
