Press Release - Atlanta Hawks guard Craig ?Speedy? Claxton has sustained a fracture of the third metacarpal bone in his left hand, according to Hawks head athletic trainer Wally Blase.
The injury occurred during a workout on Monday. He was examined today by Hawks team physician Dr. Michael Bernot, and will visit hand specialist Dr. Stephen McCollam tomorrow. Claxton is expected to be out of action for five-to-six weeks, but none of his off-court conditioning activities will be limited, according to Blase. ?Speedy was involved in a routine off-season workout, as many NBA players participate in,? said Hawks Executive Vice President/General Manager Billy Knight. ?The injury is unfortunate, as it prevents him from continuing the strong off-season work he?s put in thus far. But we expect a quick and full recovery. |
