08 NBA Draft
hey whats up everybody. I make a blog covering hoops from the NBA to the NCAA and I have started with a mock draft for this up coming draft in June. I also have analyzed the NBA finals so come take a look at my page. Ive listed my top 10 on here. Click on my link and take a look at the rest tell me what you think. I still may make many adjustments to it depending how things go in the next few weeks.
1. Chicago Bulls: PG Derrick Rose 6'3" 195 lbs Memph Fr
There is a lot of discussion on wether it will be Rose or Beasley to get the first pick, but with all the hype and importance of PGs at the moment i dont think its a question the pick will be Rose plus hes a chicago native. Rose is being compared to a Jason Kidd who can shoot this kid has amazing upside which im sure your aware of if you have seen him play
2 Miami Heat: SF Michael Beasley 6'9" 235 lbs K State Fr
Beasley was a dominate and sometimes unstoppable at the college level averaging a double double a game. He has a good post game and a good jump shot which should transfer well to the next level and a trio of Wade, Marion and Beasley sounds very promising but there is also a chance they will shop the pick
3. Minnesota T'wolves: PG/SG O.J. Mayo 6'4" 210 lbs USC Fr
I think Mayo is the best fit for Minnesota with the 3rd pick. He is the oldest and biggest of the top PGs in this draft which to me translates to the most ready to play at the next level. Some think they will go big and pick B. Lopez but i think they need more help at the guard position because their recent gaurd picks haven't been very productive and they have a solid big man with Al Jefferson
4. Seattle Supersonics: PG/SG Jerryd Bayless 6'3" Ariz Fr
Word is that the Sonics have promised Bayless to pick him at 4 if he is there but of course the sonics deny doing so, but that team is full of liars so its probably the truth. Bayless is a truly a great talent who will be an instant scorer at the next level but will have to be a better decision maker. Not a true PG more of a tweener. I compare him to a young Steve Francis
5. Memphis Grizzlies: C Brooke Lopez 7' 260 Stan So
After trading Pau Gasol for Kwame Brown i have to assume they're going big with this pick. Brooke is a talented 7 footer who plays with his emotions on his sleeve. He can score at ease but needs to work on his defense and put on a lil weight but he runs well which would be a good fit for a young athletic team coached by Iavaroni which is from the D'Antoni camp
6. New York Knicks: PG/SG Eric Gordan 6'4" Fr
I know Gallinari seems like a good fit since D'antoni has a connection with him and his european style but they claim to want a lead guard to push the ball and to me personally Gordan is the best available. Gordan didn't have the freshman year everyone expected from him but he had tough year at Indy with his coach leaving the team mid season from NCAA rule violations, but he can still score at will. Some say he needs to work on his dribbling skills but i dont see that being a problem for him. He has amazing talent.
7. Los Angeles Clippers: PG/SG Russell Westbrook 6'4" 187 lbs UCLA So
Westbrook is a great fit for a team whos gaurds are getting old and there young prospect Livingston may never be back. The LA fans are already fans of Westbrook since hes from UCLA. This kid is very athletic, he can throw down the big dunk and defend 3-4 positions. Clippers cant go wrong with this pick. I would say Kevin Love would be the pick but they have more needs at the guard positions but if they trade Elton Brand that could change
8. Milwaukee Bucks: SF Danilo Gallinari 6'10" 220 lbs Italy
Being an American I dont know much about this guy but from what i hear hes is like a point forward meaning hes a big man who can handle the ball and with the new coach Scott Skiles i think hes a good fit. I can see this team with an effective uptempo style
9. Charlotte Bobcats: F/C Kevin Love 6'9" 260 UCLA Fr
With Okafor at the center position Love would make a great PF. Okafor has the D and Love has the O. Not to mention that outlet passes that Love makes to start fast breaks. Loves only downside is his athleticism and weight but his sound fundamentals make up for his lack of athleticism and with the trainers the NBA has today he should have no problem burning his "baby fat"
10. New Jersey Nets: C DeAndre Jordan 7' 250 lbs Tex A&M Fr
With all the hype on the guards in this draft the big men have slipped making Jordan a steal at pick 10. The Nets have struggled with their big man picks with Josh Boone and Sean Williams but Jordan has a huge upside and is 7 foot and 260 lbs which is much bigger than Boone or Williams.
